NEW YORK NEWS CONFERENCE MONDAY Republican presidential candidate Andy Martin says Herman Cain must answer charges of sexual misconduct fully and imme

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a New York news conference Monday, October 31st to demand that Herman Cain authorize the National Restaurant Association to release its complete personnel files on Mr. Cain. Andy threatens a lawsuit if Cain and the restaurant group refuse to release all of the files. Andy says Herman Cain is “finished as a presidential candidate” if he refuses to make full disclosure of his employment records related to the pending accusations of sexual harassment.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW YORK PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND NEW YORK DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says that if Herman Cain has nothing hide he should stop hiding

Andy says allegations of sexual harassment are serious; Cain must respond by authorizing the release of his full employment records at the National Restaurant Association

“We don’t need another ‘Clarence Thomas’ as our presidential candidate,” Andy suggests

Andy is a former adjunct professor of law at the City University of New York and played a small role in creating modern equal employment law for women

Andy says the liberal media have unwittingly been helping Cain conduct a “cover-up,” by pretending Cain left Godfather’s Pizza to enter politics, when Cain has had extensive and more relevant employment over the past fifteen years

(NEW YORK) (October 31, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a New York City news conference Monday, October 31st to demand that Herman Cain authorize the release of Cain’s complete personnel files at the National Restaurant Association, including any records related to the payment of claims involving Cain. Andy says Cain must answer allegations of sexual harassment fully and immediately. Andy may sue the restaurant group if Cain refuses to release his personnel files. (See numerous links below.)

“Sexual harassment is serious business. The allegation has been made that long after the Clarence Thomas imbroglio, Herman Cain was ‘coming on’ to women. If the accusations are true that charges were lodged against Cain and payments were made to resolve the complaints, at a minimum Cain showed extremely poor judgment which would call into question his wisdom and maturity to discharge the duties of president.

“My own team has been working on an article/investigation of Cain for some time. We have always been troubled by the strange way Cain is described by the liberal media as the ‘former president of Godfather’s Pizza,’ since Cain left that job in 1996 and has had extensive subsequent employment which was much more relevant to his presidential campaign.

“Why has Cain deliberately sought to suggest—since no dates are ever given-that Cain went from Godfather’s to politics, when he stopped along the way in Washington to become a lobbyist, and later became a de facto employee of the Koch Brothers?

“The media have been ‘aiding and abetting’ in Cain’s cover-up by introducing him repeatedly to national debate audiences as a former executive of Godfather’s, when Cain had extensive subsequent employment as a lobbyist for the National Restaurant Association and as an associate of the Koch Brothers. Why have the media reached back 15 years to describe Cain, when he has had more recent employment?

“The misleading introduction of Cain as a Godfather’s executive had us wondering, and investigating. Politico’s report appears to provide part of the answer.

“Cain has been drawing attention from his time at the National Restaurant Association because he probably moved on under strained circumstances. If true, the two ‘sex’ complaints lodged against him in his three years on one job is credible evidence of poor judgment and misconduct.

“According to the initial reporting by Politico, Cain told his staff to ‘get with Peter Kilgore.’ Kilgore then refused to discuss the matter. Did Cain waive his privacy rights by asking Kilgore to intervene? Is Kilgore acting as part of the cover-up? Cain needs to authorize immediate release of his employment files or he’s toast as a presidential candidate.

“This is no time for word games. Mr. Cain has to authorize release of his full employment files/settlement files at the National Restaurant Association.

“I would note in passing that I have been a leading--and was the founder--of a movement seeking to have President Barack Obama release his school records at various institutions. I believe in a fair and equal standard for looking into questions of fitness for public office. I believe the same duty of candor and full disclosure applies equally to Cain as to Obama. I do not practice a double standard.

“Furthermore, if any media organization wants any information about me which is protected by privacy statutes, I would like to offer to sign a FOIA/PA waiver so that any agency can release my files to the media upon request. I have nothing to hide. In my own life I have made a lot of enemies because of my anti-corruption activity. I may make more enemies by seeking the facts about Cain. But I would no more protect Cain than I would protect Obama. Or protect myself. As Justice Brandeis stated, ‘Sunlight is the best disinfectant.’

“Mr. Cain can’t ‘game’ the issues about his sexual harassment as a corporate executive by invoking the ‘liberal media.’ The liberal media are with us, and they will continue to be with us. Conservatives and Republicans have to learn to live with the media.

“In asking Cain to release his files I am doing him a favor. Let me be clear. There is no way anyone, male or female, could get to Cain’s age, or my own age, without causing some controversy. The New York Times put its chief national reporter on my tail three years ago, and the Times conducted an investigation which looked into old lies and smears in my past. So I know something about being questioned in public about my past.

“The Times found nothing as recent as Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association in 1996-1999 and Jim Rutenberg was forced to rehash controversies in my life which were a third of a century old. Mr. Cain’s difficulties are much more recent. But however painful it may be for him to do so, Mr. Cain must make full disclosure and do it immediately.

“If Cain and the National Restaurant Association continue to cover-up and stonewall I will consider filing a lawsuit to open the files and to expose Mr. Cain’s hypocrisy. The ‘cover-up is always worse than the crime.’ Now where have I heard that before?” Andy asks. “If Cain won’t ‘come clean,’ he’s finished as a presidential candidate.”

Andy was a party to Docket Number 19801 at the Federal Communications Commission; that case was the precedent-setting proceeding which eventually created equal employment opportunity for women.

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says the other Republican presidential candidates are incompetent on Iraq policy

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin sharply criticizes Republican presidential candidates for attacking President Barack Obama’s decision to withdraw from Iraq by December 31st. Martin calls Obama’s “policy” the implementation of an agreement originally prepared by President George W. Bush. Why would Republicans criticize Obama for following Bush’s policy? Martin is the only 2012 presidential candidate with any experience and expertise in foreign policy. The rest of the Republican presidential pack is a bunch of foreign policy incompetents.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Andy Martin says the Republican presidential candidates’ criticism of President Obama’s December 31st withdrawal from Iraq is disgraceful

Martin points out we are only leaving Iraq physically; we are still there, over the horizon

Martin says a “foreign policy” conducted by any of his primary opponents would destroy what remains of US power

(CHICAGO) (October 28, 2011) Now that the candidates have filed for New Hampshire’s First primary I hate to write a column saying kind words about President Barack Obama. But the truth must be told. Voters need to know they have a choice between an adult candidate (me) and the romper room liberal-media designated Republican presidential imposters. Just ask yourself; who picks the “Republican candidates” you see on TV? Liberal pollsters working with the liberal media. Why would you trust the liberal media to tell you the truth? But you do.

Let me give you a very serious example of my opponents’ total incompetence.

Iraq.

Last week Obama announced we were leaving Iraq by December 31st.

There were howls of protest from my Republican presidential opponents. These candidates are foreign policy morons (take a look at the first link below; there is an endless stream of similar stories available).

Mitt Romney was quoted by the Manchester Union leader as follows (see link below): “He criticized the President for removing all American troops from Iraq by the end of the year, saying that puts at risk many of the hard-fought victories won by the U.S. military.”

In the New York Times Romney questoned whether the withdrawal is the result of “sheer ineptitude.” (link below) Actually, no. Obama has just been enforcing an agreement signed between Iraq and the United States by President George W. Bush.

The presidential candidate foreign policy morons seem to suggest we just could have “stayed” in Iraq past Decmeber 31st. How so? Was a small force of 50,000 soldiers going to “occupy” Iraq? Were we going to re-invade? Bomb the country again? How would we stay beyond December 31st if the Iraqis didn’t want us to stay? Bribe the Iraqis with more American dollars borrowed from China? Romney and Company have no suggestions.

Let me give you some background on my foreign policy credentials, and also explain why my opponents cannot be trusted to sit in the Oval Office and conduct foreign policy.

Although I never served on active duty in the military I have been present in all of our significant military conflicts since the 1960’s: Iran (hostage crisis), Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Libya, Iraq and so forth. You learn something actually seeing the world run off the rails into war.

I grew up studying foreign policy and politics. One of our closest family friends was a refugee from Nazi Germany. Dr. Sigmund Neumann fled Germany when the Nazis threatened to kill him. He tutored me in the Holocaust at a time when other kids were playing baseball (Dr. Neumann had no family of his own). Although he has been dead for many years, Dr. Neumann’s books are still in print as classic works on political parties and government. Neumann taught me first of all to be skeptical of politicians and their promises.

In 1999 I warned Republicans that George W. Bush was obsessed with starting a war with Iraq. Republicans attacked me then for predicting what turned out to be the truth.

I will repeat what I have always said. George W. Bush was one of the most decent men to ever serve in the White House. He is a decent human being. But Bush admitted he knew nothing about foreign affairs and his foreign policies were a long-term disaster. Bush was betrayed by the “neocons” around him (now there’s a new vocabulary word for Herman Cain).

In 2002 and 2003 I marched against Bush’s planned invasion of Iraq and predicted it would end up empowering Iran. I lived in Baghdad (in my own apartment, NOT the Green Zone) after the invasion, and became unpopular for exposing the incompetence of our mission there. L. Paul Bremer, III never forgave me for being the first analyst to write about his total incompetence as an American viceroy in Iraq.

In preparing these remarks I found one of my own columns on the Internet. In 2004 I predicted the insurgency in Iraq (calling it the “Third Iraq war”)(link below) at a time when no one in the Green Zone had any idea what was happening beyond the security perimeter. The remarks are still posted on, of all places, a socialist web site. Later I predicted the “surge” would defeat the insurgency. Bottom line: I have almost a 100% accurate track record of predicting our successes and our failings in Iraq. I have a paper trail you can actually go back and read.

Do Romney, Bachmann, Huntsman and our Johnny-Come-Lately foreign policy expert Herman Cain all know better than I do? Don’t bet your life. These guys are foreign policy jokers. But they are the ones that are quoted by the liberal media.

None of the other candidates will tell you how they planned to “stay” in Iraq after we signed an agreement to leave. So how do they propose that we “stay?” They are silent. They just wanted to take a cheap shot at Obama to pump up the “base.” How childish.

Barack Obama was and is enforcing George Bush’s foreign policy. How can the other candidates attack Obama for implementing Bush’s policy? I guess it just proves my point. They don’t know what they are saying, or maybe they have such contempt for the intelligence of the Republican “base” they will say anything for votes.

Should we have stayed in Iraq if the Iraqis wanted us? Yes, 100%. Our continued presence in Iraq would have benefited Iraqis. But they had to want us to stay.

I’ll go one step further with a 2012 prediction: Obama is not yet out of the woods in Iraq. If, as seems very possible, a new civil war erupts, his withdrawal will look bad even though it was mandated by our agreement to depart on December 31st.

You will note that I correctly analyzed the evil impact of Moqtada al-Sadr in 2004 (see the link below from the “socialists”). Al-Sadr is back in power in Iraq in 2011. His “party” was voted in. The future does not bode well for Iraq.

The Iraqi government is beholden to al-Sadr. In order for a deal to “stay” to have worked, and for our agreement to withdraw to be amended, the Iraqis had to want us to stay more than we wanted to leave. They didn’t. Obama played the only “hand” he had. (Trivia: Obama was a pretty good poker player in Springfield, Illinois as a state senator.)

The American people are sick and tired of Republican foreign policies that jeopardize our economy and kill our military for no discernable benefit. (Here you can see why I occasionally have good things to say about Ron Paul; Ron and I are close to agreeing on this one.) President Bush accomplished exactly what I predicted he would: by attacking Iraq he made Iran more powerful and more dangerous. Will anyone who thinks this is a good result please stand up? Mr. Romney?

Here we are a decade later and Republican presidential candidates are still proposing and promising the same nonsense, proposing to endanger our national security, and promising to adopt economic policies that would destroy what remains of our influence and power in the world.

Finally, we are not “leaving” Iraq in a practical sense. We are leaving physically. But American forces will still be “over the horizon.” If the Iraqis get in a jam, it wouldn’t surprise me if they cry “Uncle” (Sam). But it was and is important for us to keep our word and implement the Bush agreement. Too often foreign nations think we need them more than they need us. Wrong. We don’t need them (here I am a Ron Paulite again).

Hasta la vista, Iraq. Thank you President Obama for completing President Bush’s withdrawal agreement.

Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi has it exactly right. As long as the 2012 election is about President Obama’s failed economic policies, Republicans win. As soon as Obama makes the 2012 campaign a debate over Republican foreign policies, we lose.

If you are a Republican reading this, you probably have not thought of voting for me or supporting my campaign. Maybe you should think again. I have a proven track record of avoiding foreign policy disasters; I am the only Republican presidential candidate with the experience to keep us out of wars and to rebuild our military might to the same level where it stood when President Ronald Reagan left the White House.

If you don’t vote for me you will get what you deserve: a Republican Party led by foreign policy idiots who could well fumble away the White House in 2012. It’s your call.

NEWS CONFERENCE: Republican Presidential candidate Andy Martin says Rick Perry must withdraw as a candidate for the White House

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a 4:00 P.M. Chicago news conference Wednesday to ask that Texas Governor Rick Perry withdraw as a presidential candidate. Andy says Perry’s latest remarks abut President Obama’s birth certificate are so asinine and ill-informed they undermine Perry’s credibility as a candidate for national office. “Rick Perry has now demonstrated once-and-for-all he can’t think on his feet,” Andy says. “This deficiency effectively ends Perry’s campaign.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF CHICAGO PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND CHICAGO DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says Governor Rick Perry’s “Campaign 2.0” has “crashed and burned”

Andy says Perry’s asinine remarks about President Obama’s birth certificate undermine legitimate scholarly inquiry into Obama's opaque origins

Andy says “Rick Perry’s latest behavior is bizarre and disqualifies him as a serous candidate for the Oval office”

Andy says “The John Harwood interview confirms once and for all Rick Perry can’t think on his feet—end of ‘debate’”

(CHICAGO) (October 26, 2011) Independent Republican Party Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago news conference Wednesday to ask Texas Governor Rick Perry to end his presidential campaign. Andy says “Rick Perry says he ‘loves guns.’ Well Perry has just fired the ‘shot heard ‘round the political world.’ Perry shot himself in the foot and effectively ended his presidential campaign.

“Over the weekend the world waited. Rick Perry was about to launch ‘Presidential Campaign 2.0’ Then the wealthy Texas candidate launched his revised and revamped campaign. And he promptly crashed and burned. Perry is through as a presidential candidate. He should put himself out of his misery and withdraw. Perry proves once-and-for-all ‘Texas politics ain’t White House politics.’

“Perry was supposed to relaunch with a flat-rate tax and a back-to-work plan. Putting aside the fact that Perry rather defiantly said his plan would benefit the richest Americans, not the unemployed, Perry drew attention from his ‘plan’ with his Birther remarks. Perhaps the wealthy are Perry’s ‘base’ just as George Bush previously joked about the well-off being his ‘base.’ Maybe Perry was announcing a plan to benefit his ‘base.’ But if Perry really intended to talk about taxes he should never have allowed himself to be distracted by Birther questions.

“What renders Perry unfit for national office is that he is preternaturally stupid. Last week Perry said at the Las Vegas debate, ‘You get to ask the questions, and I get to answer them.’ He should have followed his own advice in the New York Times and Parade Magazine interviews (links below).

“Perry’s entire relaunch has been consumed by his ‘Birther’ remarks. Perry's Birther remarks are stupid in a number of ways. I say this as the person who originally created the Birther movement and who has now had to back away from some of the more crazy elements of that ‘movement.’

“We’ll have more to say about the toxic Trump-Perry ‘cocktail’ in another column, but the fact that Perry feels the need to entertain and indulge Donald Trump with Birther nonsense is scary.

“Perry says, in the tried-and-true style of Herman Cain, who also likes to ‘joke’ about serious matters, that Perry’s Birther remarks are ‘a joke.’ No they aren’t, Governor Perry. Joking about a man’s heritage is no joke. I have done eight years of real research on Barack Obama but I do not consider that research a ‘joke’ or have any less respect for Obama as a human being. And yes, although I have in the past been called the ‘King of the Birthers’ I have always maintained that President Obama was born in Hawai’i.

“Perry’s behavior is just plain weird. Below this story (links below) I document all of the strange claims Perry has made in the past several days.

“Ironically, I was just in Hawai’i (in September) once again researching Obama’s past (check earlier September-October posts on my blogs) and I am writing a series of columns on Obama’s origins I plan to issue next week. Perry’s crazy comments make it more difficult, not less, to address the serious questions about Obama’s peculiar family history. Perry’s remarks also allow the pro-Obama media to dilute my ongoing research into Obama’s origins and early life.

“For example, in his interview with the New York Times Perry mixed the ‘birth’ issue with the ‘college’ and ‘Punahou’ issues. Perry wants to see Obama’s school records. Obama’s missing academic records are a legitimate target of scholarly inquiry. I don’t have a problem with people asking to see Obama’s high school records and college files. They are now archives of American history.

“How Obama paid for college and law school are also legitimate questions, especially how Obama paid for law school. The fingerprints of Khalid Al-Mansour are all over his Harvard Law degree. But Perry tried to react to John Harwood’s (NY Times) ‘birth certificate’ question by broadening and muddying the topic. Perry’s effort backfired.

“Perry ended up demonstrating that he can't think on his feet. Perry’s poor debate performances in the past were not a fluke. He just flubbed a one-on-one interview. Perry’s fumbling makes George W. Bush look like a great public speaker.

“By inserting his nonsense about his ‘joke’ involving Obama’s birth and Donald Trump's behavior in the relaunch of his ‘Campaign 2.0’ Perry undermined his presidential aspirations in a most embarrassing way, in a way that now allows the pro-Obama media to ‘finish off’ Perry’s candidacy. Perry’s donors will probably back away as well, starving his campaign of cash to compete.

“Rick Perry owes me an apology as the ‘founder’ of the Birther movement, and he owes President Obama an apology as the target of my scholarly research and Perry’s goofy jokes. My research on Obama’s origins is not a joke. Rick Perry has become a joke.

“Rick Perry: it’s time for you to go. You’re no president. And, truth be told, you’re not really a Birther either. You’re just a joke.”

COMING WEDNESDAY: ANDY MARTIN EXPLAINS: “WHAT IS THE “BIRTHER” MOVEMENT AND WHY HAS IT BECOME SO TOXIC; WHY DOES THE “BIRTHER” MOVEMENT ENDURE AND WHY DO A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS CONTINUE TO HARBOR “BIRTHER” DOUBTS? Andy Martin provides a history of the Birther movement from 2004, when he wrote his first column questioning Barack Obama’s candor and national origins, through Andy’s latest 2011 Obama research in Honolulu earlier this month.
