Presidential candidate Andy Martin joins search for missing NH child Celina Cass

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin announced last Saturday, July 23rd, that he would hold a rally in New Hampshire’s North Woods July 29th and start marching on July 30th against the proposed Northern Pass high voltage transmission plan. Martin has arrived in Colebrook, New Hampshire, only to find himself in the middle of the search for missing New Hampshire schoolgirl Celina Cass. Martin’s rally and march will proceed, but Martin will be searching along his march route for any possible evidence that could aid law enforcement in the search for Celina.

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin previously invited the entire population of New Hampshire’s North Country to join him Friday evening in rallying against Northern Pass and marching Saturday and Sunday mornings against Northern Pass

Martin’s rally Friday night will observe a moment of silence for Celina Cass as well as another young lady who is ill

Martin’s march Saturday and Sunday will proceed as previously scheduled. But Martin and any marchers will also be carefully scouring their march route for any possible evidence that could aid law enforcement in the search for Celina Cass.

“I hope this nightmare ends before then,” Martin says. “But if not, we are going to do our best to help.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW HAMPSHIRE NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND NEW HAMPSHIRE DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

(COLEBROOK, NH)(July 29, 2011) Independent Republican Presidential candidate Andy Martin announced Friday morning, July 29th, that his presidential campaign team would join the search for missing North Country schoolgirl Celina Cass.

“I am absolutely stunned,” Martin says. “Last Saturday we announced our Friday night July 29th rally and the start of our march on Saturday morning July 30th. No rational mind could have conceived that we would walk into the maelstrom of a missing child in the same area where we are meeting and marching. This is New Hampshire.

“I have complete confidence in the efforts of law enforcement. Nevertheless, I have an investigative background; so while the anti-Northern Pass marches will proceed as planned at 9:00 A.M. Saturday morning, and Sunday at 11;30, we will be scouring the roadway for any possible evidence or suspicious material. The same holds true for our Sunday march.

“My prayer, of course, is that Celina will be found before our rally Friday night, and before we march Saturday morning. We will observe a moment of silence for her at our rally Friday evening.

“This is every parent’s nightmare. Coming on the heels of the Casey Anthony trial the whole situation is disturbing. It is mind-numbing.

Martin’s campaign “fighting camp” is located at the Colebrook Country Club, off Route 26 in Colebrook.

Martin had previously announced that he would march from Pittsburg to Stewartstown on Saturday, and Stewartstown to Colebrook on Sunday as part of his statewide march against Northern Pass.

Candidate cell contact 917-664-9329

“Bulldog Live” Brian Tilton of WTPL-FM will be the master of ceremonies Friday evening at Martin’s rally. Local citizens who are Northern Pass opponents will be speaking. Andy Martin will deliver a major address (i) explaining the basis for his campaign against Northern Pass, (ii) supporting New Hampshire’s First Primary and (iii) ridiculing the Iowa caucuses as “anti-American.”

In a separate email, Thursday Martin released his new radio commercial which lacerates Northern Pass.

Although Andy himself is a partisan candidate, the events he is sponsoring Friday-Sunday are nonpartisan. All are welcome to participate regardless of political affiliation.

Martin will hold a news conference before the start of his rally at 6:00 P.M. Friday evening at the Colebrook Country Club.

Re: Union Leader report on disarray in New Hampshire GOP

Dear Republican:

Because I am willing to take some of the credit, or blame, for the disarray in the New Hampshire GOP I thought you would appreciate my views on today’s story in the Manchester Union Leader. Here is a link to the original story:

http://www.unionleader.com/article/20110721/NEWS0605/110729985

I am the only presidential candidate who is “close to the ground” in New Hampshire. As many of you know my mother was born in Manchester, my grandparents are buried in Manchester, and I grew up spending summers and special family occasions in New Hampshire. Who knows? I might even move back.

While I am running a national campaign for president, my campaign style is somewhat different than my opponents due to my forty-five years of experience in the media. We are running a “local” campaign in New Hampshire, and not just a branch of a national effort. We are “local” everywhere across the United States.

We are developing local issues ("Save ‘The Balsams’", Stop Northern Pass) and it shows in our knowledge of the local party’s situation. But, ultimately, we are here to serve the people of New Hampshire, not just scarf up votes. I began in public service and my commitment has always been to serving the public, not the political establishment.

In February, without any provocation on my part, Jack Kimball attacked me based on allegations in a thirty year-old lawsuit. Kimball never called me, and made no opportunity to avoid a public brawl. Then Kimball was only too happy to use New Hampshire journal to spread his lies abut me and about the confrontation. Now the Union Leader suggests NH Journal is a scurrilous rag (I read both the UL and NHJ).

I promised in February to “scalp” Jack Kimball and I have every intention of continuing to try to do so:

http://www.wmur.com/new-hampshire-primary/26943703/detail.html

Kimball is a jerk who knew nothing about my record before he attacked me. I have a distinguished 45 year career of public service and political involvement, unlike Kimball who has no public service or political experience except his own self-involvement. [See www.AndyMartin.com]

Kimball’s use of his galpal Jennifer Horn to attack me on a local readio station confirmed Kimball’s incompetence. Horn said I should not be allowed to speak to NH Republicans because I had criticized President Obama too harshly. Oh, boo hoo. (You can hear her interview; I think someone posted it on the internet. If not, they should do so.) Horn is a nutcake.

Kimball leaked to NH Jorunal that he attacked me to protect the party’s finances. Hello? The party’s finances went down after he attacked me. Yes, down, way down.

I have been running radio ads attacking Kimball on local stations and those radio ads will continue as long as Kimball is chairman. You can listen to the ad on my web site.

I would be happy if Kimball stepped down, and I would allow bygones to be bygones. But as long as Kimball continues to try to undermine my campaign and uses some of his posse to treat me rudely, I will continue to run my ads attacking Kimball as a fraud. Kimball should have known better than to level false charges against a presidential candidate. That’s not his job. It the voters’ job, not Jack Kimball’s, to decide whom they want to support and oppose.

Finally, I love New Hampshire. Love, love, love. I am having a ball campaigning in New Hampshire and providing some leadership to Republicans that want a better way than Jack Kimball’s negativity and boorishness. And you can quote me on that. I am fighting to save 300 jobs in the North Country. Can Kimball or any other presidential candidate top my effort? I’ll be in court next week to save those 300 jobs. Where will Kimball be?

As always, if you have a question, please feel free to pick up the phone and speak with me personally. I’m one leader you can trust to tell you the truth, and I am not flat on my backside because of migraines. I give migraines, I don’t get them. Just ask Jack Kimball.

Best wishes,

ANDY

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin fights to “Save The Balsams”

Andy Martin launches efforts to save a New Hampshire landmark hotel from being destroyed by Ocean Properties. Martin asks New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Attorney General Michael Delaney to concede they approved a fraudulent sale of the trust property and to cancel their approval for the transfer of The Balsams to a buyer that plans to dismantle the hotel and destroy the largest employer in the North Country.

Re: The Political Scam Involving Sale of “The Balsams”

Dear Governor Lynch and

General Delaney:

Forty-five years ago, as a young law student at the University of Illinois, I began to expose political corruption in Illinois. While still a law student I was a small part of a team that exposed corruption on the Illinois Supreme Court; two judges were forced to resign after taking bank stock bribes.

In later years I helped send Mafia hoodlums to federal prison; my exposures helped lead to Operation Greylord, and sent some eighty judges and court staff to prison. In other words, I am one of the nation’s most experienced investigators of political corruption. My corruption-fighting has been nonpartisan. I expose both Democrats and Republicans. In my view there is no room for corruption, and the appearance of political favoritism and corruption, in public life.

“The Balsams” is one of New Hampshire’s treasures. It has been a hotel for 150 years. It offers world-class cuisine, as well as a training program for culinary arts. It is also part of America’s political history due to early balloting every four years at Dixville Notch. The Tillotson Trust was created to ensure that The Balsams stayed in the “North Country family,” and that the hotel was operated in the best interests of North Country residents. That is an explicit part of the trust documents.

In forty-five years of investigating corruption I have seldom seen a more corrupt process than the charade which delivered The Balsams to Ocean Properties, Ltd.

Ostensibly the Tillotson trustees established objective criteria for a buyer/sale. Ostensibly Ocean Properties submitted some sort of secret offer in accordance with the Trust’s putative sale criteria.

Last week I submitted a Right-to-Know request to both of your offices. There has been no response despite the urgency of the matter.

Ocean Properties lied. Ocean Properties has not even closed on the purchase of The Balsams and already they have announced closing the hotel for between one and two years. A vital economic resource of northern New Hampshire would be destroyed, never to recover.

Where are The Balsams sale contracts and correspondence with the AG's office? Why have you resisted turning them over to me under the Right-to-Know law? Why the silence? Why is the AG refusing and failing to deliver a response to my request for the full file? The matter is current, so preparing a copy of the complete file should be simple and straightforward. Obviously, you have been caught in a corrupt scheme to promote the interests of Ocean Properties and not the interests of the beneficiaries of the Tillotson Trust. That explains your silence and your shuffling.

The appearance of self-dealing, corruption, political favoritism and contempt for the public interest is pervasive in The Balsams sale. I intend to pursue the matter vigorously with litigation, and complaints to federal and state criminal authorities, and also to the New Hampshire Supreme Court.

Either the Attorney General’s staff was incompetent, and became a dupe of Ocean Properties, or the Attorney General's staff knew that a fraudulent procedure was being orchestrated and the AG’s staff aided and abetted in the fraud. Which is it? Choose your poison.

I would like to offer you an expeditious way out of this political scandal.

First, I ask that the Governor direct the Attorney General to revoke and vacate the Attorney General’s approval of the sale of The Balsams. That approval was clearly obtained under the fraudulent pretenses and representations that the hotel would in fact be kept open. There is an overwhelming appearance of fraud and manipulation. There is an obvious right to rescind the AG’s approval.

Second, I ask that you direct the Tillotson Trust to cancel its purported closing, so that the hotel can be preserved as a going concern while the matter is reviewed.

Third, I suggest that the Tillotson Trust reopen the sale process to new bidders based on binding constraints and an open and transparent sale process. No more secret sales and insider deals. If Ocean Properties was indeed an open and above buyer, then the short delay will remove the taint of the current process of manipulation and abuse and the sale can go forward.

Ocean Properties publicly promised to keep the hotel open for a year, and then reneged. Ocean Properties obviously was a fraudulent and insincere bidder.

The only alternative to settlement is protracted litigation.

The Balsams is the largest employer in the North Country. Where are the employees going to find jobs? Ocean Properties announced the contemptuous proposal that cooks could apply to be carpenters once the hotel is closed and continuity of employment is destroyed. What arrogance. What greed. I am considering calling for a nationwide boycott of all Ocean Properties hotels and resorts.

How could you possibly approve a sale pursuant to a Trust document mandating that the interests of the North Country be paramount, and destroy the livelihood of the hotel’s employees and hundreds or thousands more who depend on those paychecks?

In my opinion, once potential buyers/bidders realized that Tillotson Trust officials had rigged the process in favor of Ocean Properties, the bidders walked away. The whole sale process was a sham.

If it appears that Tillotson Trust officials had “sweetheart” arrangements with Ocean Properties then the trust’s officials should also be removed or replaced by a probate court.

Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss a resolution of this controversy. If I have not heard from you by the close of business on Monday, July 25th, and if I have not received by overnight delivery my requested Right-to-Know documents before then, then I will take all necessary and appropriate emergency action to (i) preserve the status quo pendente lite and (ii) bar the sale of The Balsams to Ocean Properties.

Time is of the essence. Lives are being destroyed. A New Hampshire institution is being desecrated. You are doing nothing. I am doing everything to save this institution and the hundreds of jobs at stake.

Respectfully submitted,

ANDY MARTIN

New Hampshire Governor receives ultimatum: cancel “The Balsams” scam or face probe

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago/Concord, NH telephone news conference Wednesday, July 20th to release a copy of an “ultimatum letter” to New Hampshire Governor John Lynch to cancel the purported sale of New Hampshire’s landmark hotel “The Balsams.” Martin says the sale “smells” and was a sweetheart deal to Ocean Properties, Ltd. Martin plans to ask the NH Executive Council, FBI and New Hampshire Supreme Court to open investigations of The Balsams sale scam. The Balsams is the largest employer in the North Country and has been ordered closed by its new “owner.”

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says the sale of New Hampshire landmark hotel “The Balsams” is a “classic Illinois-style scam”

Martin says the bogus sale of The Balsams should be cancelled by Governor John Lynch and the Attorney General Michael Delaney due to fraud on the part of Ocean Properties, Ltd.

Martin says the currently-proposed sale of the Balsams is also a “conservation disaster”

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW HAMPSHIRE PRESIDENTIAL TELEPHONE NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND NEW HAMPSHIRE DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin accuses NH Governor John Lynch of orchestrating a “political fix” to sell a New Hampshire landmark hotel to Ocean Properties, Ltd.

Martin says NH Governor Lynch’s “Rapid Response Team” was “missing in action” despite the suspicious circumstances of “The Balsams” sale, a classic “dog that didn’t bark situation”

Martin says that thousands of currently-protected acres in the North Country would be exposed to development as a result of the hotel sale

ANDY UPDATE:

Andy Martin is home in Chicago for a few days of rest after being on the presidential campaign trail for several months. He will maintain an active campaign schedule while in Chicago and is scheduled to return to New Hampshire during the week of July 25th for major new campaign activity and anti-corruption investigations.

(CHICAGO)(July 20, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Chicago/Concord, New Hampshire telephone news conference Wednesday, July 20th to announce he has delivered an ultimatum to New Hampshire Governor John Lynch to cancel the fraudulent sale of New Hampshire landmark hotel “The Balsams.” [www.TheBalsams.com] The Balsams in the largest employer in the North Country and has been ordered closed by the hotel’s new scam buyer, Ocean Properties, Ltd.

Martin says Lynch and NH Attorney General Michael Delaney have “violated their trust to the People of New Hampshire.”

“The Balsams” is owned by the Tillotson charitable trust; the sale required state approval. The Tillotson Trust is supposed to be operated for the express benefit of residents in the North Country, not for the benefit of political scam artists and real estate scam operators. The scam buyer, Ocean Properties, Ltd. promised not to close the hotel as part of AG Michael Delaney’s approval process and then notified employees the hotel was being closed after Delaney backed the sale.

Martin is one of the nation’s most experienced corruption fighters, with forty-five years of background fighting Illinois state and Chicago city corruption. He is a Republican candidate for president with extensive New Hampshire campaign operations.

“The way the sale of The Balsams was handled is a classic Illinois-style scam,” Martin charges. “They ‘sold’ the property without disclosing a purchase price, then negotiated in secret, and then approved the sale under false pretenses. Huh? This sale better be cancelled or someone should go to jail in New Hampshire. Ocean Properties is a corrupt outfit that obtained contractual rights through fraud and misrepresentation, a classic ‘Civil RICO’ situation.

“The Governor’s silence on The Balsams sale is a quintessential case of ‘the dog that didn’t bark’ (Sherlock Holmes). The Governor’s silence on the loss of 300 North Country jobs betrays everything we need to know about his bona fides in the deal.”

Martin is also evaluating whether to ask for a national boycott of Ocean Properties, Ltd. hotels and resorts as part of his opposition to The Balsams sale scam.

MISSING PERSONS REPORT: New Hampshire Governor John Lynch’s “Rapid Response Team”

Friday afternoon Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin told a Concord news conference that a “political fix is in” to ignore the loss of jobs by New Hampshire’s North County largest employer. Martin said Governor John Lynch’s “Rapid Response Team” was ignoring the corruption and illegality of the purported closing of a New Hampshire landmark in violation of the previsions of the Tillotson Trust. Martin says that on Monday he will give the governor and NH Attorney General five (5) days to revoke approval for the sale of The Balsams before Martin takes court action to block the hotel’s sale and closing.

Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin said Friday closing New Hampshire’s landmark hotel “The Balsams” is a “Chinatown-style” political fix

Martin said the New Hampshire Republican Party is also remaining silent at the closing of the North Country’s largest employer because of the party’s influence and control by corporate lobbyists and lawyers

Martin said the currently-proposed sale of the Balsams is a “conservation disaster”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin announced in Concord, New Hampshire Friday that the closing of “The Balsams” hotel in Dixville Notch is a political “fix”

Martin said NH Governor Lynch’s “Rapid Response Team” was “missing in action” despite the blatant illegality of the manner in which The Balsams was sold

Martin said a tape of the news conference at which the sale was approved may show that Ocean Properties promised not to close the hotel

(CONCORD, NH)(July 16, 2011) Corruption-fighting Independent Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin told a Concord news conference Friday that the sale of the New Hampshire landmark hotel “The Balsams” was a “Chinatown-style” political fix in which both Democrats and Republicans were implicated.

Martin’s news conference was delayed when he was caught in a massive traffic jam on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Martin also promised to take legal action to stop the closing of “The Balsams" if the NH Attorney General does not rescind his approval of the sale and reopen the suspicious proceedings leading to the disposal of the property.

Martin noted that while the property is currently operated as an overall conservation area, under the proposed sale thousands of acres of currently protected land would be exposed to new development.

Martin said the Attorney General has to publicly reveal all of the secret records, secret contacts and secret contracts involved in the improper actions of the Attorney General’s office.

The hotel is owned by a charitable trust dedicated to serving the needs of the North Woods area.

“I was shocked to read in the Union Leader last Sunday that the ‘buyer’ of The Balsams was closing the hotel after stating unequivocally that it had no plans to do so,” Martin charged. “Firing hundreds of employees in a recession is an act of economic terrorism against the People of New Hampshire. The Tillotson Trust expressly prohibits such predatory behavior and vandalism against the northern economy of the state.

“Once again, I stand for what is right for the People of New Hampshire. I start alone, but I will not be alone at the finish line. We will stop the closing of The Balsams. We will find a buyer who is committed to economic recovery, not economic devastation. I have forty-five years of fighting corruption in Chicago, and I can say the Balsams deal reeks of Chicago-style corruption and self-dealing,” Martin charged. “Governor Lynch’s ‘Rapid Response Team’ is nothing more than a political damage control team, and in this case the politicians are the ones causing the damage by corrupting the intent of the Tillotson Trust.” Martin said the Trust’s financial returns were “massaged” to justify sale of the hotel.

"Why is the governor silent as hundreds lose their jobs in a political fix worthy of the ‘Chinatown’ movie? Where is Governor Lynch’s ‘Rapid Response Team?’ Picking up the pieces after the hotel is trashed by Ocean Properties? ‘Helping’ people after their jobs are destroyed by corporate greed and political opportunism? Too little and too late?

“Where are New Hampshire’s media? Have any of the media gone behind the press releases and examined the Attorney General’s files? Or am I the only one to file a ‘Right-to-Know’ demand for access?

“Where would these North Country workers be if my family had not been welcomed by the people of New Hampshire 100 years ago? Where, if I had not grown up with New Hampshire values spending summers at lakes and the shore? Where would we be if I had not gone on to be a corruption-fighter who helped send mafia hoodlums to prison? Where, if I had not decided to come ‘home’ and file as a candidate for president in the first primary? Where?

“I’ll tell you where: nowhere. The workers of The Balsams and working families of the North Country would be sent to their slaughter silently while political bigwigs collect their payoffs in the form of legal fees and consulting contracts. Three hundred workers are losing their jobs. But hundreds more persons depend of these paychecks for economic survival.

“I will not rest until the obvious corruption of the Tillotson Trust is undone and until we see honesty returned to the North Country,” Martin said. “Thousands of acres of land that are currently de facto protected from development would be exposed to massive new development by Governor Lynch's inaction and complicity. I believe in protecting the environment; Lynch obviously does not.

On Monday Martin will give the Attorney General and Governor five (5) days to rescind approval for the sale of the Balsams before he launches a series of legal challenges to the rigged process by which the hotel was delivered into the hands of Ocean Properties.

Martin also chided the leadership of the New Hampshire Republican Party for remaining silent as the North Country's largest employer is closed and sold for scrap. “More lobbyists, more lawyers, more corruption and more cronyism” Martin said. “Jack Kimball says he is committed to ‘jobs,’ but he sits by silently as the North Country’s largest employer is vandalized by greed and corruption. Does the cat have Kimball’s tongue? Kimball is an incompetent and hypocritical leader.”

Martin closed by announcing the existence of a tape he has been given that may provide a promise, announced at the news conference for the sale of the Balsams, in which Ocean Properties pledged not to close the hotel.

Martin will be in Exeter, New Hampshire Saturday, where his campaign has a booth and where he will be leading opposition to the Northern Pass high voltage transmission line proposal that would cut New Hampshire in half, once again with the silence and complicity of New Hampshire’s political class.
