Andy Martin targets Hawai’i officials with new legal action

Republican Presidential Candidate and conservative columnist Andy Martin says that his two years of fighting in Hawai’i for the state to release President Barack Obama’s original birth records are continuing, with new legal action being released Monday to force the release of Obama’s birth files. “It ain’t over till it’s over,” Martin says. “What is he hiding? Why won’t he sign a one-line letter and authorize the release of his records?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ATTENTION DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

ANNOUNCEMENT OF MONDAY NEWS CONFERENCE IN PALM BEACH

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will release new legal efforts to open President Barack Obama’s birth records in Hawai’i

Martin has been fighting in Hawai’i for over two years to secure the release of Obama’s original, typewritten long-form 1961 birth certificate

Martin says Obama could eliminate most of the controversy by simply authorizing the release of his records; why hasn’t Obama given the authorization to Hawai’i officials to release?

(CHICAGO)(January 31, 2011) Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a news conference Monday, January 31st in Palm Beach, FL to provide copies of his new efforts seeking to force Hawai’i officials to release the complete file of President Barack Obama’s original typewritten 1961 birth certificate as well as any ancillary documents.

“Governor Neil Abercrombie said last month he would discredit the Birthers (link below),” Martin says, “But all Abercrombie did was make the mess worse and shoot himself in the foot. My professionally-drafted, measured legal efforts to obtain the facts and truth about Obama’s past continue. I don’t deal in hype or exaggeration. I work with due process. As long as Obama is hiding who he is, these efforts must be maintained on behalf of the American people. Obama could make this matter go away by simply signing a one-line letter to Hawai’i officials, directing them to release all of his files. He hasn’t done that. Why?

“Likewise, Obama’s Punahou School (Honolulu) files, Occidental College records, Columbia University documents and Harvard Law School archives are also being concealed from historians. Why?

“Although I believe Obama was born in Hawai’i, there are still many unanswered questions about his origins that could be answered by looking at his ‘long-form’ birth certificate.”

Dear Colorado Republican:

You are going to have a real choice for president in 2012. A choice between “more of the same” (my opponents) and a hard-hitting Republican with a real track record of fighting and exposing Barack Obama. Take a look at my web site.

I want to welcome you to the launch of my Colorado campaign on February 13-14. If you are free on the 13th, you are invited to a reception and discussion in Denver. Details to follow.

Monday morning, February 14th I’ll be a guest in studio on the Peter Boyles Show on KHOW-AM (www.khow.com). Listen in!

All of the Republican candidates are better than sad sack Barack Obama. All of them. But only one has actual foreign policy experience, and that’s me. At a time when our vital interests abroad are challenged by endless wars and unexpected revolutions, only one candidate has the chops to take on the special interests and restore both American prosperity at home and American prestige overseas. In the days ahead I will be outlining my proposals and programs.

It’s time for Republicans to have an adult conversation with the American people.

I support the goals of Tea Party activists. They are tired of being governed by a bipartisan Washington elite that has bankrupted us at home and embarrassed us abroad. But I also have the worldwide experience to exercise informed judgment. Sound decisions come from experience, not slogans. I welcome any comparison with and debate with my distinguished Republican opponents.

Stay neutral, keep an open mind and think for yourself as you decide which candidate best exemplifies the qualities of our beloved President Ronald Reagan.

If you would like to help my campaign, you’re welcome to join us. Pick up the phone. Join the team. Once you are on the team, watch for a blockbuster event being planned in Hampshire for President’s Day, February 21st.

Presidential politics in Colorado begins in Denver on February 13th. Be there, come to ask questions, and help lead Republicans to victory against Barack Obama.

We can win if we have the fighting spirit. Do you?

Best wishes,

ANDY MARTIN

P. S. We’ll keep you updated with regular reports, news releases and information. We’ll also try to send you a couple of back columns so you get a sense of how we approach issues.

Andy Martin explains what is happening in Egypt

Republican Presidential Candidate and conservative columnist Andy Martin says that “the roof is falling in on Barack Obama’s foreign policy.” Martin condemns bipartisan foreign policy failures over the past fifty years that have alienated America from generations of persons “yearning to breath free” in the Arab world. Martin calls for a new, freedom-based approach that puts America in the forefront of international leadership with a foreign policy based on democracy as the only criterion for our foreign relations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin analyzes the upheaval in the Arab world

Andy is a highly respected independent Middle East expert with over forty years of experience in the Middle East and Asia

(PALM BEACH, FL)(January 29, 2011)

[NOTE: Most Americans probably initially became aware of Andy Martin because of his efforts to secure the release of Barack Obama’s secret Hawaiian birth certificate. But around the world he has been known as a highly-respected independent foreign policy analyst who specializes in Asia and the Middle East. He first went to Libya and Egypt exactly forty years ago, in 1971. In 1979 and 1980 he was in Iran during the hostage crisis. After the ill-fated invasion of Iraq in 2003 he lived in Baghdad.]

ANDY MARTIN ON THE CHAOS IN EGYPT AND THE MIDDLE EAST

I had planned to complete Parts Two and Three of my promised State of the Union Response by now. However, I feel you will benefit if I defer those views for a couple of days, and provide my insight into why the Middle East is falling apart and my suggestions on how American foreign policy has to change.

Politics used to stop at the water’s edge. Republicans and Democrats understood that a unified foreign policy best served America’s interests. That approach was abandoned in the 1960’s. I am extending an open hand to President Barack Obama to create a bipartisan foreign policy task force that can advise the White House how to avoid looking stupid in the Middle East and around the world.

The current chaos in Egypt is a replay of the events which led to the fall of the Shah of Iran over thirty years ago. The Shah’s fall was the result of systemic failures in U. S. foreign policy. Instead of freeing the Iranian people, the “Islamic Revolution” has now enslaved Iranians for decades in a malignant theocracy.

American media still do not understand our interests in the Arab world, or why our interests are suddenly threatened. I had hoped to do a column last week on the “First Domino,” Tunisia, which has fallen, suggesting there would be other dominos that would also collapse. But Egypt is falling faster than I can write.

The Mubarek dictatorship is over. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s continuing mealy-mouthed support for Mubarek confirms in my mind that the United States lacks any foreign policy in the Middle East.

U. S. interests are often submerged or ignored. Nowhere in the media has it ever been reported, for example, that the U. S. State Department has a critical foreign language facility in Tunisia that could be endangered. Or that if Jordan were to fall, the CIA’s Middle East headquarters would be eliminated. Our media have largely towed the “party line” and that party line is now collapsing.

There are hundreds of millions of people in the Arab world who have never known freedom, who have never known democracy, who have been hostages in their own homelands and who are enslaved by their corrupt regimes. Most of these governments unfortunately enjoy the support of the United States. Some of these repressed people turn to militant Islam as an outlet for their frustration at being denied basic human rights.

The U. S. response to foreign abuses is generally to pretend there is “no problem,” and to plan as though a perpetual “business as usual” approach will suffice. President Barack Obama went to Egypt and visited the vile Mubarek dictatorship in 2009, to deliver a speech calling for “freedom.” What an insult to the intelligence of Egyptians, and to America itself.

Clinton’s remarks in the past few days have been complete nonsense. She “views with concern” and “condemns violence” while the Egyptian regime we have dealt with is fast disappearing and while the instruments of the Egyptian police state are murdering demonstrators.

Who lost Egypt? Republicans and Democrats did. The Republican Party is as culpable as the Democratic Party for our foreign policy failures. This is a bipartisan collapse. [I was a strong critic of President George Bush’s Middle East policies and his invasion of Iraq. So I have not hesitated to call out both parties on their cockeyed foreign policies.]

The ill-fated invasion of Iraq, which strengthened Iran and weakened democratic forces across the Arab world, postponed the upheaval we are now witnessing.

Is Egypt irretrievably lost? Not at all. Egyptians are not radicals, and few Egyptians would vote to enslave themselves under another Islamic regime. So there is great potential in Egypt if only Clinton and Obama would stop mouthing platitudes and start talking sense to people in the Arab world.

I went to Egypt to assess the situation after President Gamal Nasser died in 1971. There was concern then, as now, that the removal of a strong leader might lead in unknown directions. In 1979 and 1980 I was in Iran and Afghanistan. I saw the mistakes firsthand that were made by President Carter. In 2003 I was in Baghdad, living in a city that was “liberated” by U. S. troops only to fall victim of an American bureaucracy that was locked behind closed doors in the Green Zone. I coined the phrase “Emerald City” to describe our fortress-ridden mission that had no idea what was happening on the streets of Iraqi cities.

Unlike any other Republican presidential candidate, I have lived abroad, spoken the languages, studied the cultures, and worked successfully with local people around the world. Unlike any other Republican candidate I actually have a real foreign policy record you can dig out on the Internet. You can see what I have written in the last decade and see if you agree or disagree with my predictions, most of which have been extremely accurate or are on target.

So where do we go from here? In a few lines, here is my advice to both Republicans and Democrats.

First, President Obama should create and convene a bipartisan crisis council to deal with developments the Middle East. What we are witnessing today, and will be witnessing in the days ahead, is a generational shift. Young people in the Arab world, who live without hope and without a future, and who yet are connected to the endlessly alluring outside world, are about to overthrow the old order and overthrow America’s God-forsaken foreign policy.

Second, we need to stop living in a “pretend” world and start living in the real world. Obama has discredited the word “change,” but change is coming to the Middle East. We need to “flood the zone” with Americans committed to freedom and democracy, not with mealy-mouthed bureaucrats that use meaningless expressions such as “viewing with concern” the slaughter of innocent civilians by Mubarek’s praetorian guard.

It’s time for straight talk and plain talk. The controversial Wikileaks controversy has released documents that show American diplomats often talk one way in public and entirely the opposite in private. With appropriate politeness, our private views must become public policy.

Third, especially as regards Egypt, we need to announce that we are prepared to assist in a transitional government if free elections and democracy are respected. There will be no Mubarek “coronation election” in the fall. That approach is dead. There will be no generational transfer of power to Mubarek’s son, Gamal Mubarek. The “Mubarek Dynasty,” like Iran’s “Pahlavi Dynasty” before it, is kaput.

Fourth, we need to stop thinking of Arabs as being beneath us, and start thinking of them as what they are: ordinary people who in the words of the Statute of Liberty are “yearning to breathe free.” At the same time we need to stop toadying to Arab dictators and potentates. We should adopt rigid criteria for freedom and democracy as the standards by which we allocate any foreign aid. No more game playing. We have only been fooling ourselves by closing our eyes to the obvious abuses of our “allies.”

One of the reasons I opposed the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was that U. S. leaders had no idea where the process would lead. They were locked into a 90-day horizon. Notwithstanding Republican and Democratic platitudes, Iraq is still a very unstable place. Now that U. S. forces are finally withdrawing from Iraq, and Obama presents the profile of a leader who is marching America into decline, Obama’s weakness is unleashing forces that are going to become a powerful wave for “change” in nation after nation, and not always for the good.

There is currently a vacuum in the Middle East. History and politics never allow a vacuum to exist for very long. Whether Egypt becomes a democratic nation, and continues to partner with the United States in an association of free nations, or whether Egypt falls behind the Iron Curtain of Militant Islam, depends on our response and reaction to current events. Both Obama and Clinton have added to our problems, not guided us to reasonable solutions. They may have traveled overseas as U. S. politicians in diplomatic cocoons; neither has any real foreign policy experience. (The extent of Obama’s foreign travels before the presidency remain, of course, a source of controversy and mystery.)

I am on the right side of history and I am experienced and capable of leading Republicans and Americans to the right side of history. As a general rule, we should stay out of the internal affairs of other nations. But when we do get involved, it should be to foster democracy not dictatorship.

Instead of allowing potential Republican presidential candidates to blather on (I am the only formally announced Republican presidential candidate at this time), it is time for Republican voters and Republican leaders across America to start asking hard questions of the “candidates,” real questions not softies. We live in a real world, not a make-believe political dollhouse.

You can ask me hard questions, and you will get candid and informed responses. Can you say the same about the other potential Republican candidates? You be the judge.

[Within the past hour we have just confirmed plans to open our campaign in Denver, Colorado on February 13th. Details to follow.]

Andy Martin remembers the spirit of Christa McAuliffe and the Space Shuttle Challenger

Republican Presidential Candidate and conservative columnist Andy Martin draws on his New Hampshire roots to say that the greatest memorial we could erect to Christa McAuliffe is to rebuild our space program and renew her commitment to conquering new horizons for humanity.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says the spirit of Christa McAuliffe should still guide us and inspire us

(PALM BEACH, FL)(January 28, 2011) My memory of the Challenger disaster is focused on Christa McAuliffe. Like everyone, I was stunned at the suddenness of the Challenger explosion. Brave Americans had lost their lives in a voyage of discovery that ended in tragedy. Christa’s loss especially resonated for me because she was from the Granite State.

Although I was not born in New Hampshire, my mother was. My mom’s first job after graduating from the University of New Hampshire was as a teacher in Farmington. In World War II she went on to serve in OSS.

Growing up all I heard about was New Hampshire and the New Hampshire sprit. Other than my mom, my other family members were immigrants to New Hampshire, but New Hampshire took them in and made them a part of this great nation. Although under my mother’s orders not to disclose her current age, mom is still full of New Hampshire spirit. Still full of a sense of exploration and discovery.

While I never lived in New Hampshire myself, there were always family weddings and funerals, the same apartment on N. Elm Street where we stayed, visits to relatives, and every summer the magical trips to Hampton Beach. I first visited UNH in 1955. And so I absorbed some of my mom’s New Hampshire chauvinism.

When I looked up in the sky twenty-five years ago I looked beyond the tragedy. I didn’t ask why? Because I knew why. Brave men and women have always explored our world. In the past few decades they have begun to explore space. Christa was a brave woman who represented and reflected the bravery of women throughout history.

When we look back at “history” we tend to concentrate on the swords and muskets and the men who carried them. But every era of exploration has also depended on the nurturers. They were and are an essential part of the mix. Christa nurtured young minds. She was prepared to take the ultimate risk, to be a role model. And unexpectedly she paid the ultimate sacrifice. That is why she will be forever young and forever in our hearts. She was an explorer, a pioneer. She made New Hampshire proud.

Today we are a disheveled and dispirited nation. We need a strong dose of Christa’s spirit. I have no idea what Christa’s politics were, and I don’t care. She flew into space in search of our great national vision of the “shining city on a hill.”

The great dignity with which President Ronald Reagan remembered the loss of our space pioneers also lingers in our hearts. Reagan understood both the risks, and the rewards, of life. The president was also a risk taker, a pioneer, a visionary. Which is why he was able to accomplish so much in eight short years.

Where do we go from here? Naming schools and other public facilities, holding ceremonies are all traditional ways of remembering our pioneers. But in my opinion those remembrances fall far short of a fit and proper memorial to the spirit of Christa McAuliffe.

Sadly, we are dismembering our space program, mothballing our space centers and allowing our flight vehicles to rust. Space shuttles are being handed out like national antiques. Other nations stand on the cusp of surpassing us. This is not a “Sputnik moment” for our space program. It is a sad moment.

My belief? To truly honor Christa and the other brave men and women that perished with her, we must rededicate ourselves to a strong, expanded, consistent and supported space program. The current policy of shutting down and scaling back the space program dishonors the patriots and pioneers who gave their lives in the service of this great nation.

As of today I am only a fly speck in the presidential campaign process. But if I ever get to sit in the Oval Office, I promise every American, and especially the people of New Hampshire, that we will honor Christa’s memory and the memory of all of the brave astronauts that died on the Challenger, with a true memorial: we will renew and rebuild our space program, and create a highway to the stars to honor their bravery and sacrifice.

For when we someday again encounter President Reagan and Christa McAuliffe in that shining city, I want it to be said that not only did they make us proud, but that we showed them the constancy of remembering their sacrifice with our own renewed pride in a space program that once again makes all of us proud. New Hampshire proud.

Obama “birther” mystery deepens; Presidential Candidate Andy Martin sets Palm Beach news conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin says the “mystery” surrounding Barack Obama’s birth has become “more and more mysterious” since Martin announced his presidential campaign

Martin says there is a suspicious pattern developing where people make highly visible claims about Obama’s birth--and then recant their claims

Martin will hold a January 31st news conference to air his latest actions seeking the facts about Obama’s origins

Martin says he may be the only person who is trying to find the facts and searching for the truth about the circumstances of Obama’s birth

And then there’s Meghan McCain

(PALM BEACH, FL)(January 27, 2011) Republican Party Presidential Candidate Andy Martin will hold a Palm Beach news conference Monday, January 31st to disclose his latest efforts to learn the truth about the circumstances of Barack Obama’s birth. News conference details will follow on Saturday.

“Very candidly, even I am mystified by the latest developments concerning Barack Obama’s birth.

“Governor Neil Abercrombie said he was going to get to the bottom of the Obama missing-birth-certificate mystery and discredit Barack Obama’s ‘Birthers.’ A few weeks later Abercrombie punted, relying on patently absurd claims of ‘privacy’ for the president of the United States. (link below)

“Then there was Tim Adams, who was publicized by http://www.worldnetdaily.com/. Adams also claimed Obama there was no Obama birth certificate in Hawai’i. Then Adams went on TV (link below) and called Obama’s opponents ‘racists.’ After condemning the motives of Obama’s opponents, last week Adams purportedly gave Worldnetdaily an ‘affidavit’ that repeats the same claims he previously said on TV had been misconstrued.

“The only problem: Adams’ ‘affidavit’ (link below) is not in proper form and would probably not be admissible in any court of law. The notary signed as a ‘Financial Sales Consultant’ where Adams should have placed his own signature. Who drafted this strange 'affidavit?' Why would Jerome Corsi accept and/or publicize an ‘affidavit’ that is clearly not in the proper form and might not be admissible in a court of law? Strange.

“Then there is Hollywood showboat Mike Evans. You can hear Evans on the radio saying he spoke to Governor Abercrombie, and stating that Abercrombie told Evans there was no birth certificate on file for Obama. Evans was contradicting Hawai’i Director of Health Chiyome Fukino and spokesperson Janice Okubo who said exactly the opposite last year.

“Then Evans recanted his own numerous radio interviews making the same claims, and said he had never spoken to Abercrombie.

“People make statements, and then recant them. Is there a pattern here? Could Chicago-style intimidation be involved?

“While my presidential campaign was triggered in part by concern about the Republican Party’s unwillingness to confront the mystery of President Barack Obama’s birth, in recent days I have been addressing many other critical national concerns.

“Nevertheless, over 100 million Americans had doubts about Barack Obama’s ‘origins’ last fall, before the latest recantations and contortions. Surely the number is growing. Over one hundred million Americans deserve a better answer than the statements and reversals-of-statements that have become a disturbing pattern. In good faith I cannot ignore these concerns.

“What is Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball going to say about the latest series of statements and recantations? He was baffled by the controversy before the current legerdemain.

“I only want to find the facts and I am only searching for the truth about Barack Obama’s birth. Nothing more, nothing less.

“Monday I will disclose my latest steps in the process I have been pursuing for almost seven years to understand who the Mysterious Mr. Obama really is,” Martin said Thursday.

Martin is the author of a bestselling book about Obama, produced a movie on location in Hawai’i about Obama, and is credited with giving “birth” to the “Birther” movement. He announced his candidacy for President of the United States on December 29th in Concord, New Hampshire.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET ANY WORSE DEPARTMENT:

Running for president may be a national soap opera. But now the soap opera-types are horning in on politics. 2012 is increasingly looking like left-wing media will use John McCain’s daughter, Meghan McCain, to portray the Republican primary campaign as a reality version of the CW trash TV program “Gossip Girl.” Is Meghan McCain really necessary:
